TEAM CYBERSECURITY CENTRAL

Kimberly McKnight

Founder & Director

Kimberly began her journey into cybersecurity in late 2020.  Determined to reinvent herself from corporate hospitality to InfoSec professional, she dove head first into endless research, networking, and absorbing information on everything tech and information security. But the real magic happened when building relationships in the cybersecurity community and refining connections in her network.

During this transition, she noticed her way to give back to this wonderful community was to help other newcomers find engaging, trustworthy, reliable, free and budget friendly training content for those seeking career paths in tech and cyber.  Kimberly knew sharing quality and vetted resources and communities that worked for others was key to helping others advance. With so many newcomers and career changers entering InfoSec, helping others through a larger platform was necessary to make a bigger impact.

Cybersecurity Central didn't happen overnight. By strategically creating specific industry connections to develop and grow relationships with, Kimberly found a group of essential mentors who inspired her to launch Cybersecurity Central and turn it into a reality.  Included in this group are her cybersecurity inspirations: Stephen A. Hart, Jax Scott, Stefan Waldvogel, Dr. Gerald Auger, and Josh Mason. She credits where she is today with the help, support, generosity, and guidance of these individuals, and others, she met in her cybersecurity career journey.

While volunteering at Cyber Supply Drop in 2021, another 501(c)(3) cybersecurity foundation, Michelle and Kimberly discovered similar passions for cybersecurity, lifetime learning, and helping others.  After sharing her plans for Cybersecurity Central, a website and social media concept, Kimberly asked Michelle to collaborate on the social media launch of Cybersecurity Central on LinkedIn as a co-founder and contributing writer.

In early 2022, Michelle took a hiatus from social media and resigned from her position with Cybersecurity Central to focus on her master's degree in Information Security & Assurance.  Michelle is a veteran military spouse who enjoys continuous learning, writing, raising chickens, and hiking at state parks with family and friends.

We wish Michelle all the best and look forward to working with her again on future endeavors. You may see her guest appear on future writing projects!
